Communication Skills in Pharmacy Practice: a Practical Guide for Students and Practitioners is a significant contribution to the critical, yet undervalued area of communication in pharmacy education as well as pharmaceutical practice. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with 11 patients recruited from personal contacts, pharmacies, and asthma clinics. Themes that emerged indicated consumers did not understand pharmacists’ professional role, they were less likely to exchange information if asking for a specific product than if asking about symptom treatment, and they wanted privacy.
